What SmoothShip does

SmoothShip sells shipping labels for USPS, UPS and FedEx through a licensed label platform, checks shipments against the shipping rules we publish, and shows insurance options offered by insurers. We are not a carrier, an insurer, a law firm or a payment processor for the items you sell.

You are the shipper

When you buy a label you are the shipper of record. You’re responsible for what’s in the box, for packing it safely, for the statements you make (for example that a firearm is unloaded, or that you’ve given the carrier written notice), and for following federal, state and local law and each carrier’s rules. You agree to tell us the truth about what you’re shipping, who you are, and where it’s going.

The rules check

Our rules check is information to help you ship correctly, not legal advice. Laws and carrier policies change, and some rules depend on facts we can’t see. If the check blocks a shipment we won’t sell that label. If it allows one, you’re still responsible for shipping lawfully. We may refuse or cancel any label.

Your balance

Insurance

Insurance is provided by the insurer named on each option, under its own terms. Claims are made with that insurer. SmoothShip doesn’t insure packages and doesn’t decide claims. Coverage bought on an insurer’s own site is a contract between you and that insurer.

Accounts

Keep your password safe; you’re responsible for activity on your account. Licensed dealer features turn on only after we check your license. We may place an account on hold to prevent fraud or misuse, or to comply with the law.

Limits

SmoothShip is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for carrier delays, loss or damage (the carrier and any insurer you chose are), or for indirect losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the three months before it. You agree to cover our costs if a claim against us arises from a shipment you made in breach of these terms or the law.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms; we’ll post the date above and tell account holders about material changes. Questions: contact us.
