Questions
Can I really ship a gun?
Often, yes, the right way. A private seller can mail an unloaded rifle or shotgun by USPS to a licensed dealer in any state. Handguns, and anything by UPS or FedEx, go through a dealer with the carrier’s firearms agreement. We show exactly which case you’re in before you pay.
Who is the shipper?
You are. SmoothShip sells the label and checks the rules; you pack the box, make the statements the law asks for, and hand it to the carrier.
How do I pay?
You add money to a prepaid balance (bank transfer is free) and each label comes out of it. There’s no monthly fee. Unused labels can be refunded to your balance.
What does insurance cover?
Each option says who the insurer is and what it excludes. Standard shipping insurance usually excludes firearms, so we also offer coverage made for firearms and ammunition. See Insurance.
What don’t you ship?
Anything the law or the carriers forbid, like ammo by mail, handguns from private sellers, or armor to states that ban shipping it. The full list is under What we don’t ship.
